The idea of The Path Less Fly Fished was hatched while chasing native cutthroat trout in the Raft River mountains of Utah in 2017. I wanted a place to document my simple adventures in pursuit of native salmonids off of the beaten path.
Since its inception, the aim has been to capture and celebrate a subculture of fly fishing centered around this appreciation for native trout and the wild places they call home.
That home water has changed hands a few times since 2017: Utah, Wisconsin, and now Washington state. But as my good friend Dean once said, home is where you hang your waders. So I hope that these essays may inspire you to explore your own home waters, wherever that may be.
