Midwinter Reunions

At long last, the mercury has crawled up the thermometer column into positive territory once again. Lately I’ve been putting in an hour or so at the tying desk each night, slowly fortifying my oft-neglected nymph box. The recent homecoming of a good friend aligned perfectly for a trip to one of our most beloved central Wisconsin streams.

The clips from this video were actually recorded from two separate trips to the same stream, almost exactly a year apart: Feb. 22, 2020 and Feb. 20, 2021. So much has changed in our world in the time between those two dates, yet this video reminds me of how much has stayed the same. Most importantly, the trout haven’t seemed to notice. And that is comforting.

Music is by the Swedish fly fishing legend, Rolf Nylinder, and his solo musical project, The Mosvold Hotel.
