What’s going on here..?

Welcome!

This is the start of a new project I’ve been chewing on for awhile. Some of you may remember a fishing blog I ran back in the day that enjoyed mild local success in its prime. (link is still live, maybe someday I’ll leak that again) But this will hopefully have a distinctly new flavor to it. The goal is for this to be a photo/essay blog documenting the pursuit of adventure with a fly rod. It’s a fly fishing blog but not in the traditional sense. Fly fishing is the excuse I have to visit wild and beautiful places. I plan to focus on the stories and leave the tactical stuff to people who are much better fly fisherman than myself.

The running title of this blog is ‘The Path Less Fly Fished’ which is a philosophy I’ve adopted since coming to Utah. There are many world class streams here that receive tons of press and anglers from all over the world come to fish them. That’s pretty cool. But I’ve found the most enjoyment exploring areas that are off the beaten path. You won’t see these talked about online or in any major publication. They usually require copious amounts of research and miles logged on both the vehicle and hiking boots. The reward are places untouched by man, trout that grow wild, and endless amounts of solitude.

Whether this blog gains a few readers or simply becomes a place to preserve stories makes no difference to me. My hope is that it may inspire others to do some exploring of their own.

Sam
